Antje Heinz
Antje Heinz has been with GLS since 1999 and serves as the director. She is a native of Germany and a credentialed teacher since 1996. She taught in elementary and middle schools in Germany for 9 years before her husband's work brought her to San Diego in 1999. During her years with GLS, Antje has been teaching German I-IV to adults and children (children age 5-18). She specializes in AP German test preparation and has been trained in many courses for this test. Almost all of her students over the years reach the highest mark on this test.
She also received full world language accreditation in the San Dieguito School District for German Language Services of San Diego and provides excellent and tailored German instruction to the students. Their grades are reflected on their school transcripts. Antje has also taken on a wide variety of translation assignments.

Erika Holzer
Erika Holzer has been with GLS as a German teacher and translator since 2015. She is a native German speaker from Austria and has been a credentialed German and English as a foreign language teacher since 1999. She taught English as a foreign language in German public middle and high schools and German in Italian public high schools as well as at the language department of the University of Trento and various language schools in Italy. Her specialty is tailoring the lessons to each learner’s needs. For GLS Erika is teaching German for credit to high school students and a variety of different kids and adults who decide to learn German for many different reasons. Over the years she has worked as a translator for different companies and institutions, including GLS.
Katharina Fürst
Katharina Fürst started working for GLS in Spring 2024 and serves as a substitute teacher. She is a native of Germany and studied German literature and linguistics as well. She is a credential teacher since 1994 and taught in Elementary Schools in
Germany and 3 years in a High School (children age 6-12). The previous years she was responsible for an elementary school before her husband´s work brought her to San Diego in 2023. For GLS, she works with students of different grades (age 11-16) and prepares students for the AP German exam.

Bettina von Bodisco
Bettina von Bodisco has been with GLS since 2024. She is a native from Germany with a passion for education and living abroad. She has taught for over 10 years at German public schools, a bilingual private school in Argentina, and international IB schools in Switzerland and the United States. Beyond teaching, Bettina's specialty is in curriculum development and international programs providing authentic learning environments and interactive collaborations with other language learners. As a lifelong learner herself, she is passionate about language learning incorporating a fun and real-world style and customizes her German classes for each individual student. At GLS, Bettina offers interactive German online classes integrating German language with knowledge of German culture and customs while supporting students with a can-do attitude to achieve their next language level goals.
Katja Petrascheck
Katja Petrascheck's career has taken her across Europe, Australia, and the United States. Utilizing her exceptional communication and language skills, she has worked as a system trainer for executive search companies, hedge funds, and language schools. She holds a Master's degree in Linguistics and a BA in German & English from her studies in Russia. To immerse herself in the German language, she moved to Germany and Switzerland.
After spending a year in Australia, Katja relocated to the US. For the past ten years, she has been a dedicated teacher at the German American School Association, where she served as the School Director at GASA Encinitas for nine years. In 2024, she joined GLS as an experienced German teacher, currently teaching the B1 prep course online with a high success rate for her students. Additionally, she holds a position in the Encinitas Union School District.
Katja is proficient in Russian, German, English, and Swiss German, which she mastered while living in Switzerland. She is also advanced in French and is currently learning Italian. Katja is passionate about helping people of all ages grow, progress, and achieve their language goals.
